Ballet style

I have always wanted to be a ballerina! It doesn’t matter that I am now in my late 20s, the dream is still there and I was convinced that is what I would do when I grew up after spending the first 10 years of my life learning to dance. Surprisingly enough, that never happened, but I am not one to miss an opportunity to whip out the ballerina style, especially at a fancy dress party!

There’s something inherantly romantic about ballet clothing – it’s feminine, it’s comfortable (ignore the prima ballerina corsetry!) and it’s very wearable. At lunchtime today I stumbled accross the most beautiful ballet skirt in Joy and so I wanted to share with you my top ballet picks of the moment. The trend has been doing the rounds on the fashion circuit since S/S 2011 and there’s no sign of it dieing down anytime soon so put your best pointed foot forward and prepare to take centre stage!

(Louche Bettula net midi skirt, Joy, £39)

Cannot wait to wear this skirt with some chunky knee boots now and some gold sandals when the sun returns! To avoid looking too much like a ballerina, team this with a coral cami or go fierce with a cropped black blazer and vest. Very excited with this purchase.

(Knitted, fluffy ballet wrap, Topshop, £36)

Cute and fluffy, this cardigan is going to be a dream over a tea dress or with a neutral tone jersey maxi skirt. Beautiful!
